OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 Dual Channel Gold VX Memory @ 3D Gameman

“The OCZ EL DDR PC-3200 Dual Channel Gold VX Memory performs very well, is highly overclockable, affordable and the voltage can be pushed to the extreme without voiding the warrantee. The timing on this memory is 2-3-3-8 at 2.6V and a very fast 2-2-2-8 at 3.2V. Also, this memory can be increased to 3.5V for added tweaking. Watch the Video to find out more…”

Sunbeam Samurai Case @ ThinkComputers.org

“Sunbeam has always been long hailed as one of the leaders in computer modding innovations. In the past they have been known for some of the highest quality products this side of Vantec. In recent months they have been somewhat quiet, however. Until now. Sunbeam has unleashed several new series of cases and accessories that we will be looking at that will attempt to move them back into that LED illuminated lime light. Today’s feature is a new style of case from them, the Samurai.”

Apple settles with Tiger leaker

“Apple said on Wednesday that it has reached a settlement with 22-year-old Doug Steigerwald. It did not discuss the details of that settlement, though it does involve money being paid to Apple, according to Steigerwald. The company still has legal action pending against two other men in the case, which was filed in December in federal court in San Jose, Calif.”

They didn’t publicly admit how much money is involved, but I am sure it’s going to be hefty. Read it at News.com.

Australian school bans iPod

“A private school in Australia has banned its pupils from listening to their iPods. The yuppie consumer gadget will not be permitted in class, because it encourages kids to be selfish and lonely, according to the school principal. That’s the perfect preparation for the life of David Brent-style bullshit and self-deception that lies ahead of them, you’d think, but amazingly, the principal of the International Grammar School has higher hopes for her brood.”

So.. if you use an iPOD, you must be lonely. Read it at The Register.

Dr. Who Leaker Canned

“The source of the Doctor Who leak which saw the first episode of the new series splashed across the web has been sacked, the BBC reports.

It’s not, however, a Beeb insider, but rather someone working for “third-party company in Canada”. BBC international production partner, the Canadian Broadcasting Company, probed the outrage and tracked down the culprit who had access to a preview copy of Rose. The individual responsible was duly sacked.”

So maybe that puts to rest, “They leaked on purpose to intrigue people”. Read it at The Register.

Adobe Reader 7 for Linux

About time!

“WHILE STILL not officially listed in Adobe’s download page, you can get Adobe Reader 7.0 for Linux from the company’s FTP server.

A link is included at the end of this article for the impatient. I took advantage of this opportunity to get rid of the ugly Acrobat Reader 5.0.9 for Linux, which is included in several Linux distros including my current distro of choice, JDS.”

Gigabyte GV-RX80L256V Radeon X800XL Videocard Review @ PC Stats

“The Gigabyte GV-RX80L256V videocard on the test bench today is a silent videocard; a unique thing for any product wearing a “Radeon” name, but there it is – not a single fan. This brand-new videocard is built from the ground up around the ATI X800 XL VPU, which is nicely hidden behind a complicated heatpipe-based passive cooling system. The X800 XL VPU has been matched with 256MB of GDDR3 RAM. The memory hums along at a full 1 GHz speed on a 256-bit wide memory controller. The GV-RX80L256V also supports TV/S-Video output as well as component out for HDTV applications.”

Powercolor Theatre 550 Pro TV Tuner Review @ PC Stats

“In this review, PCstats will be testing out the Powercolor Theatre 550 Pro TV tuner, which is based on ATI’s Theatre 550 Pro digital audio/video processing chipset. As you might or might not know, this particular chipset is currently the hottest thing in TV-tunerland, due to its support for a number of uncommon features, including 2D and 3D comb filtering. As you might expect, the ATI Theatre 550 chip is also found in ATI’s latest Multimedia products too.”

Bill Nye the Science Guy returns!

I don’t know about you guys.. but I used to watch his show *all* the time. Well.. he’s coming back to host a Science show that’s more adult themed..

“When I was in high school, the dry science videos that I watched in my classes made me miss the silly and sometimes irreverent Bill Nye the Science Guy. So I was excited to read in the latest issue of Wired that everyone’s favorite Science Guy is coming out with a new show, The Eyes of Nye where he tackles some more serious issues like addiction, sex, cloning, and climate change.”

SAVROW KATANA 3D-9 : QUADRO Powered Mobile Workstation @ Hexus

“There are a host of desktop replacement (DTR) laptops available on the market. In fact, we have reviewed a SavRow DTR before. However, today I’d like to introduce you to something a little different. SavRow’s brand new Katana 3D-9 is more than a desktop replacement; it’s a mobile workstation! Under the hood you can run a Pentium 4 3.8Ghz, over 2GB of RAM and NVIDIA’s latest mobile workstation graphics processor, the Quadro Go1400 which brings unprecidented mobile OpenGL & Direct3D performance.”

Wow.. now that’s a notebook! Check it out at Hexus.

Xtrac Hybrid Mouse Pad @ Hardware Hounds

“In the box you get the HYBRID (of course), transportation instructions (a definite plus), a HYBRID sticker and a package of Xtrac’s Mad Dotz. For those of you who haven’t had the privilege, Mad Dotz are Teflon coated circles you put on the bottom of your mouse to enhance manoeuvrability. To quote the packaging, they are “Mouse Feet Enhancers”. I have always been a big fan of Mad Dotz, finding them to be some of the slipperiest on the market. To have a package of 12 included with the HYBRID is just icing on the cake.”
