“When on earth is AMD’s 300 series going to get here?”
These days, that’s a popular question. NVIDIA ushered in its latest GeForce generation six months ago, and just last week, it unveiled the ultra high-end TITAN X (our fact-lacked preview). That, coupled with the fact that AMD’s 200 series launched 17 months ago, makes it seems like we’re really overdue for a major AMD move. So – when is that move going to arrive?
According to sources close to KitGuru, it’s going to come around June, with the timing leading us to believe that it’ll happen at Taipei’s Computex event.

It’s noted that AMD hoped to have at least one card hit the market this month, but things didn’t go according to plan. While that’s unfortunate (maybe – it could be deliberate…), that doesn’t mean all hope is lost for AMD’s success with next-gen product. Its 300 series utilizes HMB (high-bandwidth memory), for example, which could prove to be a boon to GPU performance. Even a modest gain would be a gain that AMD could brag about.
With Computex about two-and-a-half months away, and AMD still having plenty of 200-series supply on the market, I foresee an update to the company’s Never Settle bundle coming soon. Perhaps we could even see more than that, such as discounts paired with a free game. We’ll have to wait and see.
What does seem certain is that this summer is going to be very interesting, on the graphics card front. By then, NVIDIA’s current-gen models will be firmly instilled in the marketplace (and we’ll no doubt see a “Ti” version before then), and AMD will be trying its damnedest to one-up the 900-series in one or more ways. This should be fun.
