Apple has today sent out invites to select press for an event happening on September 9 in San Francisco. Given the timing, it’s no secret that this event will be used to launch the next iPhone. As The Verge reports, though, the venue for this particular event is the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, one that seats some 7,000 people. That means that we could be learning about a lot more than just an iPhone here.
The new iPhones are expected to be called iPhone 6S and 6S Plus and will incorporate Apple’s Force Touch technology first seen on its Apple Watch. This will allow users the ability to creatively use their fingers to spawn special actions, in a way extending what’s possible with multi-touch. It’s also been recently rumored that these iPhones will get a camera upgrade, which is always pretty exciting given how solid the cameras are in iPhones to begin with.
Given the venue size increase, it could be that Apple will also use this event to launch some new iPads, including the long-rumored iPad Pro (even though some rumors have pushed that to 2016). Of course, we’ll no doubt learn more about the final version of iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan, both of which we first learned about back in June.
Just a few weeks to go…
