Towards the end of last year, the XBMC team released their latest build, codenamed Helix. With v14, we got a new brand name and logo as well. One of the biggest draws for the application, outside of its supreme usability, is that is supports so many different hardware platforms. Have an old PC? Kodi. Have an old Mac? Kodi. Oh hey, is that a Rasberry Pi? Throw Kodi on it! What about this NAS?!?
ASUSTOR has announced its support for Kodi on its 50, 51, and 70 series NAS boxes. While still technically in beta, the company’s in-house developers have knocked out the porting of the latest build to the above mentioned device series and have made it available in the Beta Apps section of the ASUSTOR App Central.
We have not yet tested Kodi on an ASUSTOR NAS, but we’ll be sure to the next time we take a look at a new unit. Not familiar with ASUSTOR? Check out my look at the company’s AS-204TE from this past December.
