Yesterday, we told you that Ferrari was set to debut its 488 GTB twin-turbo supercar at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
Today, Ferrari’s greatest rival in Formula 1, and now a growing threat in the supercar market as well, McLaren, has teased its newest supercar, the 675LT, in a short video.
The clip, all ten seconds of it, shows off part of the car’s tail section. The dramatic musical cue fades into the raucous noise of the car accelerating up the gears.
What do we know about the car? For now details are sparse, but we do know the 675LT will have a 3.8L twin-turbocharged V8 that pumps out 666bhp (equivalent to 675PS, or metric horsepower, which inspires the car’s name) and 516 lbs/ft of torque. The car, which is anĀ evolution of the 650S, also will have bodywork that features a longer tail section (LT is for “Long Tail”) which will help generate 40 percent more downforce than the 650S.
The 675LTĀ is a nod to a past McLaren supercar, the F1 GTR, which also featured long-tailed bodywork. The F1 GTR raced in sports cars events like the Le Mans 24 Hours; will the 675LT follow in its celebrated ancestors’ wheeltracks?
We’ll know more about the newest McLaren once it breaks cover in about a month’s time at Geneva.
