For Battlefield 3 and Diablo III fans, there’s some important information floating around that you will want to pay attention to. On the BF3 front, it’s been announced that the game will be going into an open beta period on September 29, while a closed beta for those previously accepted will happen on the 27th.
Not familiar with the beta details? Fortunately, there’s an official landing page that explains things in great detail. On the 29th, those who don’t yet have the game client will be able to download it – not just for the PC, either. It’ll also be available to Xbox and PS3 gamers, which to me has got to be the best possible way to see first-hand how the game will compare on all platforms.
On the Diablo III side of things, it seems that Blizzard has begun sending out e-mails to select users to announce that they’ve had a beta client added to their account. If you didn’t receive an e-mail, you can log into your Battle.net account and see if the game client is listed among the other games you own. If it is, you can go ahead and download it.
Unfortunately, both of these “betas” are more like demos than betas, in that just one campaign or map is available. With BF3, it’s my understanding that only a single map and mode is available, while with Diablo III, a single area is available, though with multiple classes. Either way, if you have access to either of these, they should do well to bide your time over to the official releases.
