To those who, like me, foam at the mouth anytime new information regarding Borderlands 2 is uttered, you’ll be happy with a tweet that Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford posted on Friday: Borderlands 2 is now GOLD (360, PS3 EU, PS3 NA, Win PC)! PSN, PS3 JP + others imminent. Official statement to come when all ballots are in.
Though gold, the game’s release is still a bit off. Those in North America will be able to dig into Pandora’s latest iteration on September 18th, while the UK will have a few days to whine, as their copies arrive on the 21st. Why on earth a delay exists at all in this day and age is unknown to me, but it is very insulting to the fans who can’t wait to tear into the game.
So, what to do before the release? Well, if it’s been a while since you’ve last played the original Borderlands, now might be a good time to give it another whirl. If you’ve never played the game co-op before, do it before the new game launches. I’ve talked to a lot of people who unbelievably (to me) have only ever played the original solo, and I gotta say, you’re missing out. The game will feel a lot different, and livelier, when you team up with a friend (or three).
If you’ve already sunk a ton of time into the original, then Google can be your friend, as there is a ton of information out there about the game so far. That of course assumes you haven’t been on top of it already. Oh, and don’t forget to express your love for the game in our on-going thread!
