Prior to the launch of NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 780, we didn’t expect any vendor to launch right away with a special model, but EVGA has managed to surprise us. It’s not only announced multiple versions of the GTX 780, but has equipped some with its brand-new cooler, dubbed ACX.
Thanks to the ACX’s “40% increase in heatsink volume“, EVGA states that the increased efficiency results in temperature drops all over the card; -15% for GPU, -7% for MOSFET, and -15% for the memory.
EVGA even took the fan’s blades into consideration here, touting them as being 700% stronger and 25% lighter compared to its competitor’s dual-fan designs. This results in fans that are 20% more efficient power-wise. EVGA goes on to state that these fans are spec’d to last 12 years – 4x longer than its competitors.
It also happens to have something else going for it: it looks awesome.
