Logitech has no shortage of peripherals that can be used across multiple devices, but its new K780 wireless keyboard is a bit different: it has a built-in stand. While not entirely new, given the K480 we’ve looked at before has a similar design, the K780 is much more streamlined, and in my opinion, a lot more attractive.
Like the MX Anywhere 2 mouse, which I took a look at last summer (and still use on a day-to-day basis), the K780 ‘Multi-Device Wireless Keyboard’ can be used on up to three devices. Unlike the MX Anywhere 2, which had a dedicated switcher button underneath, the K780 can switch through a simple key combo involving the F1 – F3 keys.
The rubber cradle seen in the above and below pics is built into the keyboard – a good thing given durability is key when this thing will be holding your mobile devices. Logitech says that this cradle supports up to a 12″ iPad, which means it can support multiple devices – even a phone and tablet side-by-side.
The K780 uses Bluetooth for its wireless means, and can be used up to 10 meters away from the receiver. The company employs the use of 128-bit AES encryption on the wireless transmission to prevent malicious folks from plucking your key presses out of the air. If that’s not cool enough for you, Logitech also says that the K780 will last up to 24 months on a fresh set of AA batteries (rechargeable batteries are not included).
Other useful features include a full numpad (which is awesome), concave keys for typing comfort, and full support for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Chrome OS.
