We wrote just earlier about ASUS’ Zen AiO Pro all-in-one PC, one that sports some great aesthetics and a lot of performance. While it offers a choice of higher-end CPUs, as well as lots of memory, it doesn’t target the serious gamer. MSI’s Gaming 27T, as its name might imply, does.
MSI touts its Gaming 27T as being the world’s most powerful gaming all-in-one, and based on its inclusion of NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 980M, that could be true (unless there’s another AIO out there that uses the same GPU.) As I discovered earlier this year, the GTX 980M is one hell of a mobile graphics card, able to eat games for breakfast at 1080p, and more than capable of delivering solid experiences at 1440p.
It’s for that reason, then, that I must question MSI’s decision to stick to a 1080p resolution on this 27-inch AIO. If the GPU is more than capable of handling 1440p, then there’s no reason this monitor couldn’t support it as well. After all, the ASUS AIO we talked about just earlier even offers a 4K resolution. If 1080p on a 27-inch display doesn’t seem odd enough, consider the fact that the Gaming 27T is priced at $2,700.
Nonetheless, if the resolution doesn’t bother you, you can rest assured that this GTX 980M card is going to remain suitable for AAA titles for the next couple of years.
Alongside its Core i7-6700 (3.4 ~ 4.0GHz) processor, the Gaming 27T includes 16GB of DDR4 memory, dual 128GB PCIe SSDs in RAID, a 2TB 7200 RPM mechanical drive, Killer Ethernet and wireless, Bluetooth 4.0, and two speakers outputting 5W worth of power.
For ports, the Gaming 27T includes 1x HDMI in, 2x HDMI out, 4x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0, microphone and headphone jacks, and a 3-in-1 card reader (SD, MS, MMC). It also has a 2 megapixel camera, a Blu-ray burner, and includes a keyboard and mouse.
While I don’t understand MSI’s decision to go with 1080p over 1440p, it’s hard to argue that this is one seriously powerful AIO gaming PC.
