NVIDIA Continues Its GameWorks Infusion With Triad Wars, RollerCoaster Tycoon World & War Thunder

NVIDIA sure is on a GameWorks rampage! Just earlier, we talked about how GameWorks would be used in Bethesda’s mega-hyped Fallout 4, and now, we can reveal some details about GW action that’s going to be hitting Triad Wars, RollerCoaster Tycoon World, and War Thunder.
Of these games, I can’t wait for Triad Wars or RCT World to drop. Triad Wars is a tie-in with Sleeping Dogs, a game I came to love when it came out in 2012. In fact, despite clearing through both the regular and Definitive Edition, I feel like I could go back to it at any time for another run-through. Triad Wars, unlike Sleeping Dogs, is an online-only game, essentially an open-world MMO. While I would have much preferred a direct sequel, I won’t jump to conclusions about the new direction until I try it.
RollerCoaster Tycoon World shouldn’t need an introduction. It’s a game that looks to follow in the footsteps of the classics without changing (read: ruining) what’s so great about the series. Based on early impressions, it could truly become the best RCT ever, thanks hugely to its robust ride editor. War Thunder is another game that likely doesn’t need an introduction, since it’s been out for some time. That doesn’t mean that it can’t be infused with some GameWorks juice now, though.
Of the three games, only one has an accompanying GameWorks video; War Thunder. I’ll let it speak, or play, for itself:
GameWorks benefits can be had in this game right now thanks to a patch released today. It adds PhysX Destruction and WaveWorks – the latter of which is a first to be seen in a released title.
Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait for the tech videos to come along for the other two titles, but you can learn about both games through these ones:
In Triad Wars, United Front Games has made use of NVIDIA ShadowWorks, HBAO+, PostWorks, and DoF. All of those explain themselves well except for PostWorks; it adds post-processing capabilities like TXAA and DoF. In RCT World, we’ll be treated to use of HBAO+. That’s a mild addition, but it’s all we can expect until NVIDIA comes out with PukeWorks or BroomWorks!
Triad Wars doesn’t have a definitive release date right now, but RollerCoaster Tycoon World is set to launch on December 10.
