Just in time for the holidays, and only for the holidays, NVIDIA and its partners have released a new GTX 560 Ti variant. It’s set to fall in between the GTX 560 Ti and GTX 570 performance-wise, although it has more in common with the latter than the former. For example, it shares the clock speeds of the GTX 570, but drops the core count down to 448 from 480 (and up from 384 from the original GTX 560 Ti).
Priced with an MSRP of $289, the 448-core GTX 560 Ti has its sights on competing with the GTX 570 as much as possible – something that’s helped when vendors such as EVGA, MSI and others pre-overclock their respective cards. While these will cost about $90 more than a standard GTX 560 Ti, the fact that they perform so closely to the $50 more GTX 570 might sell a lot of gamers on them.
NVIDIA has made it clear that these are not permanent products. Rather, some tens of thousands have been produced and are being shipped out primarily in North America and Europe. If you want this card either because it fits your budget sweet spot or you want to own a card that’s not ever going to be that common, it might be smart to jump on one as soon as possible.
It doesn’t seem that any retailers are currently carrying any of the 448-core cards, but that’s likely to change as the week continues on. This is a card we won’t likely have a review for due to us being in the middle of revamping our GPU test suite, but if interested, I recommend you check out the review by our friends at Legit Reviews.
