When NVIDIA made its GRID game-streaming service official in November, it had launched with 20 games. A month later, that count jumped to 28.
And now? By March 3rd, GRID will be sitting pretty with 40 titles. Today, the 38th becomes Saints Row IV. Next week, and number 39, will be Alan Wake. The title to grace the big 4-0? None other than Metro Last Light Redux.
As I’ve said in the past, I wasn’t quite sure if NVIDIA had a strong commitment to its GRID service, a thought fueled by the fact that the service had been in beta for quite a while. Well, with the company’s promise of at least one new game each Tuesday, its seriousness became a lot more clear.
In fact, if you have any doubts about how serious NVIDIA is to its GRID service, take note of the fact that it compares it to Spotify and Netflix, and what those services have done for their respective content.
Until July, GRID is completely free to access for any SHIELD owner, and it’s a service I highly recommend checking out if you own the portable or a Bluetooth gamepad for the tablet (of course including the SHIELD controller itself). Once July hits, we’ll learn of GRID’s pricing, and it’s impossible for me to speculate on what its cost will be. I’d just have to imagine that it will be comparable to other on-demand streaming services out there, especially Netflix and Spotify, as those have been name-dropped by NVIDIA itself.
If NVIDIA keeps to its “at least” one game per week, by the time GRID goes subscription-based in July, it’ll have at least 63 titles. It’ll be interesting to see what those titles will be.
