Early this morning, our webhost (Steadfast Networks) performed some major upgrades to its hardware, and as so often is the case, things didn’t exactly go according to plan. I’m not quite sure what happened, or where the problem originated, but whatever the cause, it resulted in over 10 hours worth of downtime for both our site and forums.
We’ve been with Steadfast since the beginning of the year, and up to this point, the service has been top-rate (that’s no exaggeration… it’s truly been stellar), and while downtime like this hurt, I’m not going to consider another host at this time. For me, the previous service we’ve received up to this point overwhelms this hiccup, despite it being a rather major one. That said, we’ll certainly be prepared to move elsewhere should the need arise in the future.
In a semi-related note, we’ve been having some other issues with the site over the past month, due to a hole being exploited in our server software. It’s proven complicated to rid, but we’re quite sure that we’ve ironed it out and are now good to go. I can’t say for certain, though, so if any of you happen to notice site downtime, even if it doesn’t last too long, please let us know.
Hopefully these issues are going to be behind us for a while, because they’re awful stressful to deal with, especially when content needs to get written ;-) Apologies for the inconvenience!
