In an open letter sent to fans, CP Projekt RED co-founder Marcin Iwiński reveals The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sales numbers while at the same time gives a hearty thanks to the game’s fans.
Part of the email reads: “I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank the four million gamers worldwide who bought The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the first two weeks from launch. Four million RPG fans spending their hard-earned money on our game is a sign that we did something right, and you can be sure that we’ll harness all that positive energy and make the upcoming expansions worthy of the grand adventure that you’re telling us Wild Hunt already is!”
He’s not kidding. The amount of positive energy surrounding the game is simply staggering. After the game’s launch, I began to see so much positive support for the game over at reddit, with many saying that they hope the game sells many millions because CDPR “deserves it”. While I have not played Wild Hunt as much as I’d to like up to this point, I am glad to see that kind of reaction, given the original two Witcher titles were likewise top-rate.
If you need more proof that the game is great, look no further than the fact that our review came a bit late because Jamie couldn’t pull himself away from the game long enough to write!
CDPR is in a rare position where all of its games released up to this point have been well-received – even the mobile-focused titles. That gives me great hope that its upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 will likewise be an amazing game. As I’ve said before, CDPR seems to truly care about the end result. It’s not willing to rush a title out the door to hit a deadline, and as we’ve seen with Wild Hunt, it’s willing to work overtime to wipe out community-submitted bugs.
Huge congrats to CDPR for this success. We need a lot more developers like you guys.
