It’s that time of year again – when a game developers conference directly precedes NVIDIA’s own technology conference. There’s never a question about a supposed battle between both GDC and GTC (well, aside from telling someone “GTC” and they thought you said “GDC”), as both events complement each other very well. That’s why NVIDIA has sets of announcements for both events, and at least for GDC, the company has not held back.
In addition to NVIDIA’s RTX, its ray tracing project, which is being covered in another post, the company has doled out many goods for gamers, including a slew of new titles supporting ShadowPlay Highlights. In December, after taking an in-depth look at Highlights in PUBG, I finished off by saying that I wish the tech was found in more games. Well, since then, Fortnite joined in, as well as Metal Gear Survive, and as of GDC, Call of Duty: WWII, Tekken 7, Dying Light: Bad Blood, and Escape from Tarkov have joined in as well, so all in all, things seem to be ramping up for NVIDIA’s automatic video capturing tool.

Another popular NVIDIA tool gaining even more support is the Ansel screenshot one, another that I enjoy quite a bit. Star Wars: Battlefront II has just added support, at least to its Arcade mode. Despite the game’s initial reception due to its money-grubbing tactics, it’s clear that this is a massive title even still, so hopefully there are many who will jump on in and give the tool a whirl.
If you’re someone who needs more of a nudge, you may be interested in the fact that NVIDIA has just complemented its Ansel feature with an official community gallery to let you show your work off to the world. At least right now, images uploaded and shared on Twitter with the #SHOTWITHGEFORCE tag and @NVIDIAGeForce handle will be entered for a chance to win some prizes.

Last, but not least, NVIDIA’s also bolstered its GeForce Experience saving capabilities to allow you to save a clip as an animated GIF. This was a hugely requested feature from gamers, and for good reason: it makes it easy to share modestly sized segments online.
You can read even more about all of the updates here. As an aside, NVIDIA’s also released a new Game Ready driver, 391.24, which adds Ansel to Pure Farming 2018, Q.U.B.E. 2, and as mentioned above, Battlefront II. It also adds Highlights support to all four titles mentioned earlier: CoD: WWII, Dying Light: Bad Blood, Escape from Tarkov, and Q.U.B.E. 2. Plus, it optimizes performance for Rare’s latest adventure title, Sea of Thieves. Go grab it.
