They say good things tend to happen in threes, and we’ve seen this at CES this year. ASUS announced not just one, but two trios of new gaming-oriented products. Thermaltake did, as well.
Well, add the good folks at Mad Catz to the list of companies introducing new gear in a group of three. It announced the debuts of the TRITTON Swarm wireless mobile headset, the L.Y.N.X. 9 mobile hybrid controller, and the R.A.T. ProX gaming mouse.
The TRITTON Swarm wireless mobile headset is stylish, functional, and super-versatile. It has eye-catching styling augmented by an iridescent color scheme (four colors are available: black, blue, green, and pink), so it’s sure to turn heads. More importantly, though, it’s also superbly functional. Controls for playback, volume levels, and source switching are on the earcup. The Swarm also supports simultaneous connections to up to devices. Connections, by the way, can be made via Bluetooth or via a cable. Compatibility with mobile and smart devices, PC, Mac, and latest-generation gaming consoles attests to the Swarm’s outstanding versatility. Mad Catz says that the headset is available now for pre-order with an SRP of $149.99. The company says it expects to ship the headsets in March 2015.
Also making its first public bow at CES 2015 is the L.Y.N.X. 9 mobile hybrid controller. The L.Y.N.X. aims to be a versatile, go-anywhere gamepad compatible with a wide variety of Android devices (Apple mobile users seem to be out of luck, at least for now). Composed of three main components – Left wing, Right Wing, and Controller “Brain” – the L.Y.N.X. 9 is designed to be assembled and configured to fit various mobile devices. Connectivity to the L.Y.N.X. can be achieved through Bluetooth; moreover, the included PlayBig cables, which will allow your L.Y.N.X. to link your mobile device to your HDTV, allows you to expand your mobile gaming experience as well.
The L.Y.N.X. can also augment Web browsing on your mobile device through its included QWERTY Keyboard Module. This attaches to the bottom of the L.Y.N.X., so typing on your Android device becomes easier than ever. Not only that, but the L.Y.N.X also has an integrated Mouse Sensor Pad and media controls and a microphone for voice search.
Like the TRITTON Swarm, the L.Y.N.X. is also available now for pre-order from Mad Catz’s website, with delivery expected to begin in March 2015. SRP is $299.99.
Rounding off this threesome of Mad Catz announcements is the introduction of the R.A.T. ProX gaming mouse. It’s the next generation evolution of the company’s R.A.T. gaming mice.
The R.A.T. ProX, as you might expect, boasts a plethora of innovative features. For one, it is built on a magnesium alloy chassis for weight savings and improved strength. A new Scroll Wheel system allows gamers to adjust the click force of the wheel, or even replace the wheel itself. Similarly, the new R.A.T. incorporates Modular Sensor Units (MSUs) which users can swap out to customize their R.A.T. ProX to suit their style of play, or to take advantage of improved sensors as they become available.
Mad Catz has not released any availability or pricing information on the R.A.T. ProX, but it definitely sounds like it will be in very high demand once it does come available.
